The Santa Marina is an authentic 375-plus-acre farm in the State of Minas Gerais, with history and tradition. It lies at an altitude of just above 3600 feet. It is teeming with the exuberant flora and fauna of the Atlantic Forest, which surrounds a lake, a waterfall, and a rapid.

Acquired by the Bernardi Capistrano family in 1967, the Santa Marina opened its doors in 2002, thus becoming “a Farm which Hosts”.

The guests are received by the very owners.

The Fazenda is committed to protect and preserve the local natural treasures.

Main House

The mansion from the early 19th Century has been renovated, whilst new environments were built and carefully decorated with antiques which belong to the collection of the family. The stay in the Main House provides better contact with the origins of the Farm, whilst evoking memories of a more bucolic and less hasty life.

There are four comfortable and spacious apartments, with private bathrooms equipped with showers supplied by a solar heating system, TV, safe, DVD, and minibar.

The romantic atmosphere is present in every detail of the décor.

Important! As a result of the pandemic and, momentarily, because we are operating with 50% of occupancy, Main House has closed accommodations, however, with Guest House and Chalet House are released.

A charming and secluded environment by the shores of the lake. It has an ample apartment, adapted for individuals with special needs, two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, two rooms with a fireplace, open kitchen, TV, DVD, safe, porch with hammocks, and an open-air shower, not to mention the all-exclusive external area.

CUISINE

In the breakfast, the quitandas [typical cakes, biscuits, muffins, and desserts], the milk, the curd, the cheese, the jams, and the juice are products of the Fazenda Santa Marina. For lunch, tea, and dinner, delicious family recipes are prepared on the wood-burning stove. The most part of the vegetables, the greens, the sauces, the sweets, and the herbs is also produced in the farm.

LOCALIZATION

Located in the State of Minas Gerais, by the Estrada Real [Royal Road] – the path which used to connect Rio de Janeiro, the capital of the Empire, to the city of Ouro Preto, the then capital of Minas Gerais. The Santa Marina Farm Hotel is 120 km [nearly 75 miles] away from the city of Belo Horizonte, by the BR 040 highway, in the direction of Rio de Janeiro, in the vicinity of the cities of Cristiano Otoni and Santana dos Montes.

The Santa Marina lies next to the historical cities of Congonhas do Campo, Ouro Preto, and Tiradentes. It belongs to the Touristic Circuit Vilas e Fazendas de Minas [Villages and Farms of Minas Gerais].

LEAVING FROM BELO HORIZONTE > SANTA MARINA

We are about 120 km [nearly 75 miles] away. Drive by the BR-040 highway, in the direction of Rio de Janeiro. At about 2 km [1 ¼ mile] after the city of Cristiano Otoni, pay attention and turn right, on the exit as indicated by the sign SAÍDA 652 (image above). You will then drive underneath the BR highway and shall follow the signs to the city of Santana dos Montes. The Fazenda Santa Marina is just 9 km [5.6 miles] ahead. Mind the railway track and the interchange, where you shall turn left.

INFORMAÇÕES IMPORTANTES

1. The daily rate includes breakfast, lunch, 5 o’clock tea, dinner, and leisure at the farm.
2. Beverages are charged in separate, and are not included in the daily rates.
3. The holistic therapies (baths, massage, Reiki, etc.) are options and are charged in separate. Ideally, the desired therapy should be scheduled upon the making of the reservation.
4. Orders outside the menu offered in the 4 meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) will be charged separately.
5. The Hotel charges a fee for any beverage brought in and consumed by the guests in the social areas.
6. The Hotel accepts infants (babies of up to 1 year of age) and guests above 10 years of age.
7. Outsourced tours for bird watching will be charge in separate and should be scheduled in advance.
8. We do allow small-sized domestic animals in specific apartments. Please verify the accommodation fees.

√ Deposit in advance to the amount of 50% of the stay (reservation guarantee), the remaining 50% and the extra expenses will be settled at the Hotel either in cash or check.

The Fazenda Santa Marina is a privileged and ideal local for you to hold meetings and celebrations. Throughout the year, several events are produced, such as: Bride’s Day, Week of Ayurvedic Treatments, Reiki Initiations, and Children’s Day, among others.
